Artem Alikhanian is one of the founders of the Armenian Academy of Sciences and has his great role in the development of nuclear physics. The Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics in Moscow was established by the efforts of a distinguished scientist.
Artem Alikhanyan together with his brother Abraham Alikhanian is a co-founder in the creation of the first nuclear reactor in the USSR.
The brothers Artem and Abraham Alikhanian were born in Tbilisi and later in their field were to become heroes so that Armenians would be proud of them as were proud of scientist Victor Hambardzumyan, musicologist Komitas, marshal Bagramyan and so on.
For about 30 years leading the Yerevan Physics Institute and the Physics Department of Yerevan State University , a prominent scientist became the engine of Armenian science, inspiring many young scientists who gave a new impetus to the development of exact sciences in Armenia and the Soviet Union entirely.
